Ayotunde Richards, a gospel singer and former member of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), has once again been apprehended and confined at Ikoyi Prison for an alleged involvement in a conspiracy to perpetrate a felony and cyberstalking.
Ayotunde held the role of the primary singer supporting the religious leader.
A bail was granted to Ayotunde by a Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos State, following a formal complaint from Davidson Adejuwon, an attorney who purportedly serves as an assistant to the church’s founder, Dr. Daniel Olukoya.
In a judicial decision, Ambrose Allagoa, the presiding judge, affirmed that the accusations leveled against Ayotunde were sufficient for bail to be granted.
As previously reported, Ayotunde’s detention stemmed from a complaint lodged by Davidson Adejuwon.
The legal representative accused Ayotunde of various instances of online harassment and defamation against Olukoya.
The petition was filed by Davidson on behalf of Mrs. Sanni, a staff member of Olukoya entrusted with managing the cleric’s online presence.
Within the petition, Ayotunde Richards was implicated in various cyberbullying activities and disseminating defamatory statements concerning Olukoya.
Additionally, Ayotunde initiated legal action against the church’s General Overseer, Pastor Olukoya, citing an alleged violation of his basic human rights.
Nonetheless, Ayotunde Richards was detained once more by a high court situated in Onikan, Lagos State, on Thursday, under the weight of a two-fold indictment.
Reports indicate that Ayotunde’s detention was linked to a lawsuit instigated by Opeyemi Emmanuel, accusing him of participating in a conspiracy to commit a felony and cyberstalking.
Sources revealed that Ayotunde is slated to remain in Ikoyi Prison until June 13, when his legal counsel will present a petition for bail in court.
