Labour to hold emergency meeting as minimum wage report awaits Tinubu’s approval

Minimum wage: NLC strike continues ahead of Tuesday review meeting

The organized labour is planning to hold an emergency meeting to discuss their next steps following the submission of a report to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by the national minimum wage tripartite committee.

Benson Upah, spokesperson of the Nigeria Labour Congress, revealed this in an exclusive interview  on Monday.

The outcome of the meeting will determine whether organized labour will resume strike action in the near future, although Upah did not provide a specific date for the meeting.

“The appropriate organs of the two unions will meet, and once they do, whatever decision they make will be communicated to the public,” Upah said.

The federal government suggested a minimum wage of N62,000 during the committee meeting, but union is pushing for N250,000.
