Millwall goalkeeper Matija Sarkic, aged 26, has sadly passed away.
The tragic event occurred while Sarkic was on international duty with Montenegro in the town of Budva.
He fell ill while at an apartment with friends and despite being swiftly taken to a hospital, he passed away at 6:30 am local time.
Local authorities are looking into the circumstances surrounding Sarkic’s death, although it is believed to have been due to natural causes.
Millwall, a Championship team, expressed their deep sorrow over the loss and paid tribute to Sarkic by blacking out their X profile as a mark of respect.
