Shakira has suggested that she may be open to a casual relationship following her breakup with her partner in 2022.
The famous singer admitted that she is not ready for a serious commitment, but is open to the idea of a fling.
“I’m not thinking about that. What space do I have for a man right now?” she said in an interview with Rolling Stone. “I think my kids would have to be very prepared for that, and their emotional and psychological well-being is the priority.”
She added, “What can I tell you, I like men. That’s the problem. I shouldn’t like them with everything that’s happened to me, but imagine how much I like men that I still like them. Hey, I’m not opposed to having friends.”
Shakira, 47, ended her relationship with longtime partner Gerard Pique, 37, after 11 years together. They have two children, Milan, 11, and Sasha, nine.
There were rumors that Gerard had been unfaithful to Shakira with his current girlfriend, Clara Chia, 26.
During this difficult time, Shakira was also dealing with a legal issue regarding tax evasion in Spain and her grandfather’s unfortunate accident.
Reflecting on that period of her life, she said, “the suffering I felt was probably the greatest I had ever experienced in my entire life, and it kept me from functioning at times. It felt like someone had stabbed a hole in my chest. And the sensation was so real, almost physical. I physically felt like I had a hole in my chest and that people could see through me.”
Two years on, she’s feeling more like herself.
“I got my swag back,” she said. “And I got my sexy back.”
