Lagos Government Enforces Street Parking Policy

Sanwo-Olu

The Lagos State Government has reiterated its commitment to enforcing the street parking policy across the metropolis.

The administration emphasizes that this measure aims to regulate parking activities, reduce traffic congestion, and enhance the overall urban experience for residents and visitors.

As part of this enforcement, the government has issued directives to ensure compliance with designated parking zones and to penalize violators.

The initiative is part of broader efforts to improve urban mobility and maintain order on Lagos streets.

Speaking on the planned enforcement, the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said: “There is no going back on enforcement from October 2024.

“The measure has become necessary in the interest of the general public to further ensure free flow of traffic in the state.”

Also clarifying the enforcement, the General Manager of Lagos State Parking Authority, LASPA, Adebisi Adelabu, explained that Victoria Island and some areas in Ikoyi, Surelere, Ikeja and Lekki are the first phase of the scheme where enforcement would commence.
