According to reports,Chelsea player,Romelu Lukaku is willing to accept a reduced salary in order to reunite with Antonio Conte, the new manager of Napoli.
Negotiations between Chelsea and Napoli are ongoing regarding the transfer fee, with Chelsea starting at £29 million.
Lukaku, aged 31, is currently Chelsea’s highest-paid player, despite spending the last two seasons on loan at Inter Milan and Roma.
Although Lukaku’s contract with Chelsea runs until 2026, his time at the club has been characterized by loan spells.
Following his £97 million transfer from Inter in 2021, Lukaku quickly expressed his desire to leave, leading to a fallout with manager Thomas Tuchel.
During the previous season, Lukaku scored 13 goals in 32 Serie A matches for Inter but failed to score in the four matches played by Belgium in Euro 2024.
There were previous rumors of a potential swap deal involving Lukaku and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, but Chelsea deemed the Nigerian striker too costly. Despite this, Lukaku is reportedly still open to the idea of a transfer to Napoli.
