Minimum Wage: I’ll approve N250,000 under one condition – Tinubu

Tinubu breaks silence on alleged

President Bola Tinubu set a condition for the organized labour to agree to their N250,000 minimum wage demand.

The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Joe Ajaero, revealed that Tinubu made this condition during a meeting where he approved a minimum wage of N70,000.

Ajaero explained that Tinubu stated he would only accept the proposed N250,000 minimum wage if the pump price of petrol was raised.

Ultimately, the labour leaders rejected this condition as they believed it would worsen the existing hardship.

“Accepting N70,000 was the best way to make sure that we save Nigerians from further hardship.

“Today, we went there to tell him ‘no’ and that the labour movement can make sacrifices without allowing Nigerians to suffer further on the increase of pump price of petroleum products.”
