Ayra Starr, the global Afrobeats sensation, has joined the expanding group of pop stars venturing into the Nigerian film industry, Nollywood.
The 22-year-old Grammy-nominated artist is set to make her acting debut in the Prime Video original movie ‘Christmas In Lagos’.
The romantic comedy also features Teniola A. Aladese, Shalom C. Obiago, Rayxia Ojo, Shaffy Bello, and Adekunle Gold.
The storyline follows Fiyin, played by Aladese, who is heartbroken and convinced that her best friend Elo, played by Obiago, is her true love.
The movie was filmed in Lagos and directed by Jadesola Osiberu.’
“For me, Ayra Starr represents what it means to be young and female and daring and brave and fearless – just being yourself. She was on the list from day one,” Osiberu told Variety.
Christmas In Lagos’ also features cameo appearances by musicians Wurld and Liya, with a soundtrack that includes songs from legendary artist Sunny Ade, Afrobeats icons Flavour and D’banj, and more.
