FG approves 25% pay rise for lecturers in federal institutions, Minister of Education

The federal government has made known its intention to assess the merger of federal technical colleges and scientific colleges within the nation with the aim of disentangling them.

During a session gathering various stakeholders to address the obstacles and concerns impacting Technical Institutions in the nation, the Minister of Education, Prof Tahir Mamman, unveiled this development.

Mamman conveyed his dissatisfaction regarding the fusion of technical colleges with scientific colleges, highlighting that this action has undermined the progress achieved through the establishment of technical institutions nationwide.

He elaborated on the notion that technical institutions should exclusively cater to students inclined towards technical education.

The minister underscored that individuals interested in pursuing scientific disciplines should enroll in conventional colleges and pursue their studies there, as the amalgamation of both types of institutions was evidently a misstep.

Mamman also lamented the inadequate student enrollment in technical institutions, observing that these institutions are crucial for imparting skills essential for the transformation of the nation.
