Afrobeats artist Omah Lay recently shared the biggest obstacles he faces in the music industry.
The singer expressed feeling unloved, particularly by the media and music industry decision-makers.
During an interview with Amazon Music, Omah Lay admitted to escaping this harsh reality by immersing himself in a fantasy world.
“I have my fans, family and team but I don’t feel loved especially by the media and the people that call themselves the gatekeepers,” he said.
“This is something I’ve never talked about. I’m that artist that lives in a fantasy world. I just live in my head 90 per cent of the time.”
Omah Lay also said being a Nigerian and travelling with a Nigerian passport is challenging.
“Travelling especially being a Nigerian and having the Nigerian passport, I have just seen the cruelty of the world so much.
“The immigration officers often maltreat me once they see the Nigerian passport until they realise that I’m Omah Lay that’s when the treatment changes.”
