BREAKING: NJC recommends Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as CJN

Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun appointed as new Chief Justice of Nigeria

Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun has been recommended by the National Judicial Council to become the next Chief Justice of Nigeria.

The recommendation was decided upon during a last-minute closed-door meeting held in Abuja on Thursday instead of the originally scheduled date of Friday.

In addition to Justice Kekere-Ekun‘s recommendation, the NJC also put forward 27 other individuals as potential judges for the state high court.

The meeting is still ongoing as decisions are being finalized. The current Chief Justice, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, will be retiring on August 22 upon reaching the age of 70.
