Lee Carsley has been appointed as interim England manager for the upcoming Nations League games in September.
The Football Association is still in search of a permanent successor for Gareth Southgate.
The 50-year-old will be stepping up from his current role as England Under-21 boss to fill in for Southgate, who resigned following a defeat by Spain in the Euro 2024 final.
“As I am very familiar with the players and the cycle of international football, it makes sense for me to guide the team while the FA continues the process to recruit a new manager,” said Carsley.
“My main priority is to ensure continuity and our goal is to secure promotion in the Uefa Nations League.”
Carsley, a former Premier League midfielder who played for clubs such as Derby and Everton during his 17-year career, transitioned into management after retiring.
He has previously taken on caretaker roles at Coventry, Brentford, and Birmingham before becoming the England Under-20 coach in 2020.
Later,Lee Carsley became the head coach of England Under-21 and led them to a European Championship title in 2023, marking their first win in the competition in nearly four decades.
