In a shocking twist, the All Progressives Congress, APC, has made the surprising decision to forgo signing the peace accord just two hours before the scheduled ceremony.
This decision, made in anticipation of the September 21 governorship election, was intended to promote a peaceful electoral process among political parties.
Governor Godwin Obaseki had previously expressed doubts about the peace accord, stating that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, may not sign it due to lack of trust in the police and INEC.
The APC’s Emperor Jarret Tenebe cited the lack of progress in the investigation of the murder of police inspector Onuh Akor, who was the orderly to Sen Monday Okpebholo, as the reason for their refusal to sign the accord.
