Adelabu Promises to Restore Electricity to Northern Nigeria Within 5 Days

Mr. Adebayo Adelabu, Minister of Power, has pledged that electricity will be restored to the 17 northern states cut off due to vandalism on the Shiroro-Kaduna transmission line within the next five days.

The minister made the pledge on Monday while briefing State House media following a meeting with President Bola Tinubu.

He said the vandalized transmission line would be fixed “within three to five days”.

He stated that the president has already directed the National Security Adviser, NSA, and security chiefs to ensure adequate protection for those who will repair the demolished line.

The minister assured that with full security provided, the Transmission Company of Nigeria’s TCN staff will have the confidence to go to the field with the contractors and fix it.

“So, I’m just appealing to our northern brothers and sisters, fathers and mothers, to bear with us that very soon, light will be restored, and we must all collectively protect our national grid to avoid further vandalisation,” said the minister.
