Barcelona is planning an aggressive move to recruit Manchester City’s prolific scorer Erling Haaland.
According to the Spanish newspaper Sport, club president Joan Laporta is spearheading the move. He wants to make a huge “media signing” before the end of his term.
While the deal is unlikely to occur before 2025 or possibly 2026, Haaland’s probable desire to leave City might coincide with the departure of manager Pep Guardiola.
According to ESPN, the Norwegian star might look for a fresh challenge abroad if Guardiola leaves.
Meanwhile, despite Robert Lewandowski’s impressive start to the 2024/25 season with 12 goals in 11 La Liga games, the Catalan club is already looking for a potential replacement for the 36-year-old striker.
Haaland, who joined City in 2022, scored 73 goals in 73 Premier League matches.
However, his contract with City expires in 2027, making any potential trade financially problematic for Barcelona, especially considering the club’s continuous financial difficulties.
