Victor Boniface redeemed himself by scoring the game-winning goal in Bayer Leverkusen’s 2-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt.
The goal came after the Nigerian striker missed an early penalty in the first half.
Eintracht Frankfurt took advantage of Boniface’s botched penalty kick, with Omar Marmoush scoring from the spot in the 16th minute to put the visitors ahead.
However, Bayer Leverkusen replied before halftime, with Robert Andrich equalizing to tie the teams at the break.
Leverkusen came out stronger in the second half, and Boniface made amends for his earlier miss by netting the match-winner.
Despite their solid start, Frankfurt will feel this was a missed opportunity to take points from the high-flying Leverkusen.
