Cole Palmer, Chelsea’s rising star, delivered a superb performance to lead his team to a 2-1 win over Newcastle at Stamford Bridge.
Palmer had a key role in both Chelsea goals, demonstrating ingenuity even under pressure.
Palmer’s brilliant through ball found Pedro Neto, who raced past Newcastle’s Fabian Schar before setting up Nicolas Jackson for the game’s first goal.
Newcastle rallied back, with Alexander Isak scoring just before halftime to equalize the score.
However, Palmer responded with his own goal shortly after the break.
Following a Chelsea counter-attack, he broke free on the left and skillfully beat Newcastle’s goalkeeper Nick Pope at the near post to restore Chelsea’s lead.
