EPL: ‘I feel ashamed over how I treat players’ – Chelsea boss Maresca

Enzo Maresca

Enzo Maresca, the Chelsea manager, expressed regret and shame for omitting certain players in their 2-1 victory over Newcastle United on Sunday.

Enzo Fernandez, Marc Cucurella, and Joao Felix started the game on the bench.

Despite their absence, Chelsea managed to secure the win with goals from Nicolas Jackson in the 18th minute and Cole Palmer in the 47th minute.

The team did concede a goal from Alexander Isak in the 32nd minute of the match.

Speaking after his team’s win, Maresca said (via Fabrizio Romano):

“Every game I feel bad, I feel shame because I have to leave players out but it’s the only way to try to compete.

“No matter how many changes we make, it’s important the style is there, the identity is there.”
