France coach hints at Pogba’s potential return to the national team

Didier Deschamps has responded warmly to the Court of Arbitration for Sport’s (CAS) decision to reduce Paul Pogba’s four-year punishment to 18 months.

As previously stated, the Juventus player was banned after testing positive for a banned drug in August 2023.

Pogba, who can now return to training in January 2025 and competitive matches in March, faces an uncertain future with the club.

His contract with Juventus is expected to be canceled, and negotiations have already begun. Despite this, the punishment reduction provides optimism for the athlete.

France’s national team manager, Deschamps, expressed his delight in an interview with AFP. “The light is shining once again,” he said.

“It is excellent news that he will be able to play from March. I spoke to him for a long time on the phone during this difficult period.”

The positive statement from Deschamps now hints a possible reintegration of the player to the national team.

However, whether Pogba will regain his place in the national team remains to be seen, but Deschamps emphasized the midfielder’s love for the game.

“Since he loves football so much and he loves playing, it is excellent news for him.”
