Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold has expressed his ambition to become the first full-back to win the prestigious Ballon d’Or award.
The England international made this statement ahead of Liverpool’s upcoming Premier League match against Arsenal.
“My main target? I’d say to win a Ballon d’Or,” Trent Alexander-Arnold said via Fabrizio Romano.
“Because I believe I can. I want to be the first full-back to ever do it”.
Historically, no full-back has ever claimed the Ballon d’Or.
However, in 2006, former Italy defender Fabio Cannavaro, who primarily played as a centre-back, won the award after leading Italy to victory in the FIFA World Cup.
The winner of the 2024 Ballon d’Or will be revealed on Monday, with contenders including Vinicius Junior, Jude Bellingham, Rodri, Kylian Mbappe, and Dani Carvajal.
