Liverpool maintain top spot with win over Palace, but Alisson injury raises concerns

Liverpool defeated Crystal Palace 1-0, moving them to the top of the Premier League heading into the international break.

However, they were dealt a severe setback when goalkeeper Alisson Becker sustained an injury.

Diogo Jota’s early goal was important for the Reds. The Portuguese attacker converted a low cross from Cody Gakpo to give Liverpool the lead.

Despite numerous opportunities, Liverpool failed to expand their lead.

Palace struggled to capitalize on Liverpool’s misfortune, especially after Alisson’s injury with 15 minutes remaining.

Debutant goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros stepped in, and although Palace threatened, Eberechi Eze missed a golden opportunity to equalize, firing straight at Jaros.

Despite a late surge from Palace, Liverpool held on for a vital three points, continuing their strong but slightly shaky start under new manager Arne Slot.
