Lizzy Anjorin-Lawal, a Nollywood actress, has been cleared of stealing gold from Oba Akintoye Market on Lagos Island in February 2024.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the state police spokesperson, confirmed this in a recent interview with Punch.
He added that the police investigated the footage that implicated Lizzy and discovered it to be a mistake.
Hundeyin claims that the gold supplier gave Anjorin incorrect account information for an N90,000 transfer, with one digit off. Nollywood actress Lizzy Anjorin-Lawal has been cleared of the charge of stealing gold from Oba Akintoye Market on Lagos Island in February 2024.

He stated that the police looked into the video implicating Lizzy and found it to be a misunderstanding. According to Hundeyin, the gold seller gave Anjorin the wrong account information for a N90,000 transfer, with one digit being off.
The actress sent the money anyway, and as a result, she was wrongly accused of theft.
She took the assault case to the police, which resulted in an arrest. Later, when the case went to court, Lizzy chose to drop the matter.
Benjamin Hundeyin added:
“Lizzy Anjorin-Lawal transferred what she was supposed to transfer, which was about N90,000, into the wrong account that she was given and there was a receipt; when it was becoming too hot, she again transferred money to the correct account number they gave her. So, she did a double transfer just to avoid trouble, even though the mistake was not hers.”
