Significant property valued in millions of naira has been irrevocably damaged due to a fire incident that erupted at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching Hospital, located in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
CREEBHILLS reports that the fire incident transpired during the early hours of Saturday.
Information from sources affiliated with the hospital indicate that the fire extensively affected the Emergency and Accident Unit of the facility.
It has been reported that various office equipment, books, engines, electronic devices, as well as roofing and ceiling structures, valued at millions of naira, were completely destroyed.
CREEBHILLS has learned that the fire outbreak initiated around 5 am within a pediatric consultant’s office.
A source from the hospital indicated that the fire incident is believed to have been triggered by an electrical spark.
It has been reported that approximately 16 patients were urgently evacuated from the ward.
The Public Relations Officer of LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Omotayo Ogunleye, confirmed the incident on Saturday.
Ogunleye stated that regular operations have since resumed at the hospital.
