Manchester United endured an early setback against Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt but rallied to clinch their second successive Europa League victory after parting ways with Erik ten Hag.
The club opened its campaign with three straight draws but now appears to be rediscovering form under new management.
After scoring early in Rúben Amorim’s managerial debut against Ipswich, United quickly broke the deadlock against Bodo/Glimt.
Rasmus Højlund stopped visiting goalkeeper Nikita Haikin’s clearance after a weak back-pass, allowing Alejandro Garnacho to score into an empty net.
However, defensive lapses soon exposed United. Håkon Evjen equalized in the 19th minute, and Philip Zinckernagel capitalized on more slack defending to put Bodo/Glimt ahead just four minutes later.
United struggled to create chances until the brink of half-time when Noussair Mazraoui delivered a precise cross to Højlund, who flicked the ball up and volleyed it clinically into the bottom corner.
The home side regained control shortly after the interval. Manuel Ugarte’s low cross set up Højlund for his second-night goal, as he tapped the ball in from close range.
United then endured a nervy moment when goalkeeper André Onana appeared to handle the ball outside his area, but the referee allowed play to continue.
Amorim’s side ultimately held firm, securing a hard-fought victory and giving their new manager a positive start at Old Trafford.
