Porto’s emerging star, formerly known as Samu Omorodion, has changed his name to Samu Aghehowa.
The 20-year-old forward has decided to use his mother’s surname rather than his father’s.
At Porto, spectators now see “Samu A.” on his jersey, as opposed to his tenure at Alaves, where he was just known as “Samu.”
Aghehowa’s action demonstrates his appreciation for his mother’s assistance during difficult times. “Many times, we didn’t even have enough food. Thank God, everything is better now, and I can give my mother the life she deserves.
“She is the one who has always helped me,” he shared in the summer.
Since joining Porto from Atletico Madrid, Aghehowa has made an impressive mark, netting 12 goals in just 13 games.
His performances have drawn comparisons to Alvaro Morata, as he’s seen as a potential successor for the Spanish national team.
