Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur has been handed a seven-game domestic ban and a £100,000 fine for making a racist remark about his teammate Son Heung-min.
This sanction comes after comments he made during a television interview in June. In that interview, he referred to Son racially insensitively, breaching FA Rule E3, which prohibits improper or abusive language.
Bentancur will still be eligible to play in Europa League matches, as the ban only applies to domestic competitions.
However, this suspension means he will miss several crucial Premier League and Carabao Cup matches, further impacting Tottenham’s squad depth during his absence.
