Veteran rapper Ruggedman, also known as Michael Ugochukwu Stephens, has strongly criticized those who are attacking afrobeats singer Davido for his remarks on the Nigerian economy.
In a recent podcast interview, Davido warned American citizens against considering a move to Africa, especially Nigeria, due to the state of the country’s economy. This led to widespread backlash against him.
In response, Ruggedman defended Davido’s comments, stating that they were accurate. He called on the government to address the economic challenges so that similar criticisms would not arise in the future.
Ruggedman emphasized that simply criticizing Davido does not solve the country’s problems, and highlighted the urgent need for economic reform to alleviate the hardship faced by Nigerians.
On his X handle, the rapper wrote, “Ok Davido has said what he said, moving forward the government should fix Nigeria so nobody will say such again. All this barking all over the place is not fixing the nation.
The hardship is too much.”
