Ufuoma McDermott, a Nollywood actress, has revealed her 12-year fight with renal disease.
She revealed this in an emotional chat with Chude Jideonwo on “WithChude”.
She revealed that her younger brother’s death from the same ailment prompted her own diagnosis.
Ufuoma was initially diagnosed with stage 3 kidney illness, but her condition advanced to stage 4, the ultimate stage, when she ignored her doctor’s suggestion to rest.
The actress confessed to drug abuse, specifically excessive painkiller use, which exacerbated her condition.
For six months, Ufuoma was bedridden, unable to work or gain weight. She thought her life had ended, but then, she later found the strength to fight back.
