At The New York Times DealBook Online Summit on December 4, 2024, Prince Harry expressed his gratitude for raising his two children, Archie and Lilibet, in the United States.
In his talk with Andrew Ross Sorkin, the Duke of Sussex revealed that living in California has offered him opportunities he never imagined, saying, “It’s a part of my life that I never thought I was going to live.”
He added that raising his children in the U.S. aligns with what his late mother, Princess Diana, would have wanted for him. “It’s the life my mom wanted for me,” Harry said, noting that it has allowed him to do things with his kids that he believes would have been impossible in the U.K.
Since stepping back from royal duties in 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have made Montecito, California, their home. Their children, five-year-old Archie and three-year-old Lilibet, have been raised in the U.S. The Duke officially changed his residence status to reflect his American home in 2023.
During the summit, Prince Harry also shared his concerns about media disinformation and how it could impact his family, drawing on his mother’s past experiences with the press.
He expressed worry over how the media culture could affect his wife and children, adding, “What worried me most was worrying that would happen to me, or to my wife, or to my kids.”
As he continues to build a life in the U.S., Prince Harry remains deeply connected to his mother’s legacy and the values she instilled in him
