Jada Pollock, Wizkid’s talent manager and mother of his children, has spoken out about the problems of being called a “baby mama.”
In a recent interview with BET UK, she highlighted her dissatisfaction with being defined entirely by her connection with Wizkid rather than being recognised for her own professional accomplishments.
Jada P recalled a specific incident in which she issued a statement congratulating the emergence of Afrobeat following Wizkid’s Grammy triumph.
Unfortunately, blogs opted to describe her comment as “Wizkid’s baby mama,” which she said degraded her entrepreneurial efforts and dedication.
“When Wizkid won a Grammy, I wrote a statement about how far Afrobeat has come. They published the statement, and the caption was “Wizkid baby mama.” The narrative does not recognise that you’re an entrepreneur and a hardworking businesswoman. I’m not only a mother but also a manager, and I’ve helped build a legacy,” she said.
