Attorney Tony Buzbee has filed a lawsuit against Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, accusing the rapper of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in 2000 at a VMA awards afterparty.
Jay-Z has denied the allegations, calling them “idiotic” and accusing Buzbee of attempting to blackmail him.
Buzbee is now suing Roc Nation for allegedly conspiring to obstruct justice by hiring individuals to persuade former clients to sue him, offering them up to $10,000.
He said in a statement, “What he had calculated was the nature of these allegations and the public scrutiny would make me want to settle. No sir, it had the opposite effect! It made me want to expose you for the fraud you are in a VERY public fashion.”
He claims Roc Nation employees posed as state officials and used fake badges to manipulate them into filing false claims.
“This illegal conduct has happened more than two dozen times to date and has resulted in two utterly frivolous cases against the firm,” he wrote on Instagram.
He then alleged he has recorded transcripts of calls to prove the attempted obstructions.
“The Defendants overstepped, got sloppy, and stupidly got caught in their illegal scheme on tape,” he said.
A Roc Nation spokesperson called the lawsuit a “sham” and a “pathetic attempt to distract and deflect attention.”
