President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Lagos State for this year’s Christmas and New Year holidays.
Tinubu arrived at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos at 3:23 p.m. on Wednesday.
Before departing Abuja, the President presented the 2025 Appropriation Bill to a joint session of the National Assembly for consideration and passage.
Tinubu Proposes N3.5 Trillion Allocation to Education in 2025 Budget
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has submitted the 2025 federal budget to the National Assembly, highlighting a strong focus on education with an N3.5 trillion allocation to the sector. This significant investment aligns with the administration’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’, aiming to bolster human capital development, healthcare, and infrastructure across Nigeria.
Key Highlights from the Proposed Budget:
- Education Priority:
- N826.90 billion is earmarked specifically for infrastructural development in education, including Universal Basic Education (UBEC) projects.
- Plans for nine new higher education institutions were unveiled to expand access to tertiary education.
- Over N34 billion has already been disbursed through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) to support more than 300,000 students.
- Broader Human Capital Investments:
- Tinubu emphasized education and healthcare as cornerstones of Nigeria’s growth, stating, “Our people are our greatest resource.”
- Investments in social services are also designed to enhance Nigerians’ quality of life.
- Economic Growth and Infrastructure Development:
- The 2025 budget includes measures to ensure long-term economic stability, with a commitment to tackling infrastructure challenges in critical sectors.
