Fans of late Liam Payne marched through the streets of Buenos Aires, calling for justice for his death.
The former One Direction singer tragically died at the age of 31 on October 16 after falling from the third storey of a hotel in the Argentine city.
Fans of the celebrity have staged demonstrations in an attempt to put pressure on authorities to hold those involved in his death accountable.
The Argentine prosecutor’s office stated Liam died from multiple traumas and internal and external bleeding.
Preliminary toxicology tests later revealed traces of “alcohol, cocaine and prescription antidepressants” had been found in Liam’s system. Officials ruled out suicide.
Last week, it emerged that local law enforcement had been probing five people after two more workers at the hotel Liam was staying at were officially put under investigation.
Judge Laura Brainard ordered that footage of Liam’s fall, captured on CCTV, be reviewed. Roger Nores, a friend of Payne is being investigated under suspicion of abandonment – a claim he denies. Others are being investigated for the facilitation of narcotics.
The interviews will take place between December 17 and December 19, following which Bruinard will have ten days to decide whether to prosecute the defendants, or acquit them.
Fans have now marched on the streets of Buenos Aires to ensure the efforts made by police don’t lose momentum.
“We want to apply pressure and show [the prosecutor] that we’re watching,” one of the march organisers told Rolling Stone.
Other fans said their campaigning resulted from a lack of “trust in the justice system”. They added: “It takes years for there to be justice in some cases here, and it’s taking way too long in this one.”
