Nancy Pelosi, the former US House speaker, had emergency hip-replacement surgery after a fall in Luxembourg.
The 84-year-old Democratic leader was injured during a visit to mark the anniversary of World War II’s Battle of the Bulge.
A statement from her office, signed by spokesperson, Ian Krager said, “Earlier this [Saturday] morning, Speaker Emerita Pelosi underwent a successful hip replacement and is well on the mend.
The statement said the former Speaker “is grateful to US military staff at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center at Landstuhl Army Base (in Germany) and medical staff at Hospital Kirchberg in Luxembourg for their excellent care and kindness.
Reports indicate that Nancy Pelosi broke her hip after tripping on marble stairs. Despite stepping down as speaker in 2023, she still holds influence as a representative from California.
