“Not all singles are lonely and sad” – Toke Makinwa

Media personality and entrepreneur Toke Makinwa has debunked the misconception that being single means being lonely and miserable.

Through a recent Thanksgiving party that was mistakenly assumed to be an engagement celebration, she shared her perspective on the topic of singlehood.

Taking to social media platform X, Toke Makinwa argued that there is more to life than being in a relationship and that the belief that being single equals loneliness is erroneous.

“Beats me how some people think that every single person is lonely, it’ll shock you how content and happy single people are. Don’t get me wrong, it’s good to do life with someone but if you don’t find your own purpose you can be with someone and still be lonely.”

Toke Makinwa stressed the importance of personal fulfillment over societal expectations of being in a romantic relationship, urging for a change in mindset as we head into the new year.

“Let that rubbish behaviour of thinking single people are miserable or lonely or sad be left in 2024. There are so many people in horrible situations (whatever you call it) that secretly wish they were alone, so let people be.”

Her words have struck a chord with many, igniting discussions on relationships and challenging the stigma attached to being single.
