Omoyele Sowore, former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has firmly stated that former President Muhammadu Buhari does not deserve any well wishes, congratulations, or celebratory gestures on his birthday.
This statement comes in response to the widespread messages of goodwill towards Buhari as he celebrates his 82nd birthday.
Reacting to a message posted on Tuesday by Bashir Ahmad, Buhari’s former aide on X, Sowore said, “A man that destroyed his country does not deserve any honor, accolades or happiness. Baba Munafikin Banza, Baba Barawo Banza (Vain Hypocrite Father, Vain Thief Father)!”
As a human rights activist and leader of the #RevolutionNow movement, Sowore believes that Buhari’s time in office was filled with failures and injustices, making him unworthy of any form of recognition or praise.
In another post on his Facebook page, Sowore said the former President does not deserve any happiness on his birthday after eight years of economic disaster and massacre of Nigerians under his torturous administration.
Buhari was Nigeria’s president from May 2015 to May 2023.
“Considering the economic destruction, looting, and massacres that occurred during his disastrous eight-year tenure, Muhammadu Buhari deserves NO happiness on his birthday!” Sowore said.
This viewpoint reflects the disappointment and dissatisfaction felt by many Nigerians towards Buhari’s presidency, which was marred by criticism, controversy, and unresolved human rights issues.
