Super Eagles forward Victor Boniface, known for his humour and playful social media presence, recently discovered how his love for posting memes affects how people perceive him.
In a lighthearted Instagram post written in Pidgin English, the Bayer Leverkusen striker shared his struggle to find a conventional football picture among the 7,000 memes saved on his phone. Boniface expressed amusement over the fact that fans often don’t take him seriously because of his online antics but vowed to continue posting memes. He wrote:
“No be life I dey live so. Cus I one post pic, I don stroll pass 7k pic before I see 1 normal football pic, all na memes. Una no rate me self with my memes but I no go stop I go continue.”
A History of Humor and Cruise
This isn’t the first time Boniface has spoken about balancing his meme-sharing persona with his professional football career. In September, he joked about taking life more seriously, hinting at how his love for humor might overshadow his athletic achievements. He remarked:
“I go soon stop to dey post memes or catch cruise sef e con dey be like say na only me no take my life serious this year.”
CAF Snub and “Memes d’Or” Award
Despite an impressive performance last season, Boniface was not included in the CAF Player of the Year nominations.
When asked about the snub in October, he humorously brushed it off, saying he was waiting for a different kind of accolade, one that aligns with his meme-worthy personality:
“Rookie of the Season, Team of the Season. No worry I no play AFCON, Na why I dey wait for memes d’Or.”
Fans’ Reactions
Boniface’s humour and authenticity have made him a fan favourite. His playful demeanour off the pitch complements his dedication and skill on the field, showing a well-rounded personality that resonates with supporters worldwide.
Boniface remains a standout figure in both the football and meme worlds, reminding fans that even elite athletes can embrace humour and fun.
