The Court of Appeal in Abuja has upheld the decision made by Justice Abdu Kafarati of the Federal High Court in Abuja on January 18, 2018, which banned the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and labeled it as a terrorist organization.
In a ruling on Thursday, a three-judge panel of the Court of Appeal unanimously confirmed that the Federal Government was justified in outlawing the group due to its activities posing a threat to the nation’s unity and the safety of its citizens.
Justice Hamma Barka, delivering the main verdict, rejected all arguments put forward by IPOB and deemed their appeal baseless, resulting in its dismissal.
