Cristiano Ronaldo has hinted that he has married long-term girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez after a slip of the tongue on social media.
The 39-year-old Al-Nassr forward met Rodriguez in 2016, and has been together for over eight years. She recently celebrated her 31st birthday, and her partner sent her a heartfelt message.
Taking to Instagram, the former United star wrote: “’For the mother, partner, friend, my wife… happy birthday, love. Your light illuminates us and your love infects us,” alongside a heart emoji.
The couple have not confirmed their marriage publicly, but Ronaldo’s use of the word ‘wife’ could suggest otherwise, particularly amid rumours that they wed secretly. It is not the first time that Ronaldo has called Rodriguez his wife.
He regularly refers to her as that title and did the same at the 2024 Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai. Spelling at the time, he said, “It’s a big pleasure to win this trophy. My oldest son is here, and my wife [Georgina] is here.”
The veteran forward also did the same in a YouTube video that he shared on his official channel. In the same upload, the couple was also spotted wearing rings—potentially wedding bands—.
Ronaldo and Rodriguez share two children, while she is also step-mother to his other three children. While the pair have potentially taken their relationship to the next level, there is still plenty for the forward to decide regarding his future.
