Nigerians deported are always welcome back home – FG

According to the Federal Government, Nigerians who have been deported from the United States are encouraged to return home.

Abdur-Rahman Balogun, the Director of Media and Corporate Affairs at the Nigerians in Diaspora Comission, revealed this information during an interview on Tuesday.

The Commission explained that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is overseeing this situation and the FG has created an inter-agency committee to address any Nigerians who may be deported from the US.

“The Federal Government has set up an inter-agency committee, comprising the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, NiDCOM, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and office of the National Security Adviser, NSA, should there be mass deportation of Nigerians from the US.”

Despite this, the spokesperson noted that the commission is not currently aware of any Nigerians in America being processed for deportation.

It is worth noting that approximately 3,690 Nigerians in the US are at risk of deportation due to Donald Trump’s efforts to crackdown on illegal immigrants.
