Wilson, a member of the Republican Party like President Trump, is the representative of South Carolina’s 2nd district. He sits on the House Republican Policy Committee and holds the position of assistant Republican whip.
In a post on his social media platform, Wilson announced his proposal on Tuesday, calling it “the most valuable bill for the most valuable President.”
He introduced the proposal in reaction to the perceived economic downturn during former President Joe Biden’s administration, which he believes has burdened American families with increased financial strain.
“Grateful to announce that I am drafting legislation to direct the Bureau of Engraving and Printing to design a $250 bill featuring Donald J. Trump.
“Bidenflation has destroyed the economy, forcing American families to carry more cash. Most valuable bill for most valuable President!” Wilson wrote on X.
If Wilson’s proposal is accepted, Trump would be the sole living current or former U.S. president to be featured on American currency.
