The management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka (UNIZIK) has enacted the expulsion of a female student identified as Goddy Mbakwe Precious, who engaged in an assault against a faculty member concerning a TikTok video.
A contentious exchange reportedly transpired on Tuesday within the Faculty of Arts at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, involving a female student and a lecturer, Dr. Chukwudi Michael, subsequent to his interruption of her video recording.
The confrontation intensified, resulting in a physical altercation, during which the student purportedly inflicted bites upon the lecturer’s wrist and arm.
In the aftermath of the incident, the Acting Head of Information, Public Relations, and Protocol at UNIZIK, Njelita Louis O., conveyed that the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Ikechebelu, has mandated a comprehensive investigation consistent with the institution’s foundational principles of discipline.
Nonetheless, an official statement disseminated yesterday, February 13th, 2025, by UNIZIK, verified that the student has been expelled from the institution. This declaration was communicated by the Acting Registrar, Mr. Vector I. Modebelu.
The statement reads; “The Ag. Vice-Chancellor has received the report from the Student Disciplinary Committee on the case of your assault on a lecturer from the Department of Theater and Film Studies which was found to be a gross misconduct and violation of the Students Disciplinary Regulations particularly Regulation 4 (SDR).
Consequently, the Ag. Vice-Chancellor has, on behalf of the University Senate, approved the Committee’s recommendation that you be expelled and you are hereby expelled from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.
The expulsion takes immediate effect.
You are expected to vacate the University premises immediately and return any University property in your possession.”
