Erling Haaland was forced to leave the field due to a left ankle injury during Manchester City’s 2-1 victory over Bournemouth in the FA Cup quarterfinals on Sunday.
The injury occurred when Bournemouth’s Lewis Cook landed awkwardly on Haaland during a tackle in the 56th minute at the Vitality Stadium.
Despite receiving treatment and attempting to continue playing, he eventually had to be substituted out of the match. At the time of his departure, the score was tied 1-1, with Haaland having scored City’s equalizer after missing a penalty earlier in the game.
His replacement, Omar Marmoush, quickly made an impact by scoring three minutes after coming on for Haaland, giving City a 2-1 lead and securing their spot in the semifinals at Wembley for a seventh consecutive season.
With the FA Cup now being their only opportunity to win a trophy this season, Manchester City, currently trailing Premier League leaders Liverpool by 22 points with nine games remaining, will be looking to repeat their success in the competition.
Additionally, City were recently eliminated from the Champions League by Real Madrid in the playoff knockout round.
