Nollywood actresses Ibinabo Fiberesima and Hilda Dokubo have reacted emotionally to the political crisis in Rivers State, condemning President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency and Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s six-month suspension.
Speaking at a press briefing, Fiberesima, visibly shaken, questioned the sudden military presence in the state, insisting that Rivers was not in crisis.
“We found peace finally. And then today, you come out and you see army people driving around, like there’s something going on that is wrong. This is not right. We are at peace,” she said tearfully.
Her colleague, Hilda Dokubo, described the situation as a calculated attempt to seize control of the state’s economic resources.
“What is going on in Rivers State is not about Fubara. This is a fight for the economic soul of the state. Someone wants to grab the economic soul of Rivers State,” she asserted.
Dokubo further alleged that Governor Fubara had faced deliberate political obstruction before his suspension, calling the crisis a strategic move against the state’s leadership.
