Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo has vowed to defend his country’s emblem with his last breath.
In a pre-match press conference before Portugal’s Nations League quarter-final second leg against Denmark, Ronaldo emphasized his commitment to the team.
Despite their 1-0 loss in the first leg at Parken, the striker expressed his desire for the team to emerge victorious in the return leg at Estádio José Alvalade, regardless of who scores the goals.
“It’s not about me scoring… I only want Portugal to win. If we win and I don’t play, I’ll sign it down,” Ronaldo said as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.
“I only focus on defending my country’s badge until I die, as always.
“I’d be happy if we win tomorrow and another teammate scores!”.
The Al Nassr forward has scored a world record 135 goals since making his Portugal debut in 2003.
