The highly anticipated 97th Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars, came to a close with groundbreaking victories and unforgettable moments.
This year’s Oscars had a theme of “Community and Spirit,” dedicated to honoring the 29 lives lost and numerous homes destroyed in the tragic Los Angeles wildfires of 2025. The evening celebrated the art of filmmaking and recognized the talented actors, directors, and industry professionals who have pushed the boundaries of storytelling.
Held at the iconic Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California, the Oscars began with celebrities walking the red carpet at 10 PM (WAT).
The Oscars main ceremony, which took place from 1 AM to 4 AM (WAT) on March 3, 2025, kicked off with a stunning performance of “Defy Gravity” by Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande.
