The former President of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Amaju Pinnick, was unable to secure his FIFA Council seat during the 14th CAF Extraordinary Congress in Cairo, Egypt.
Pinnick fell just short with 28 votes, while Ahmed Yahya of Mauritania and Souleman Hassan Waberi of Djibouti received 29 votes each to claim spots on the council.
CAF President Patrice Motsepe was re-elected unopposed, with Fouzi Lekjaa of Morocco, Hany Abou Rida of Egypt, Yahya, and Waberi selected as Africa’s representatives on the FIFA Council.
Kanizat Ibrahim from the Comoros Islands secured the women’s seat.
