Yolanda Saldivar, the woman convicted of murdering Selena Quintanilla in 1995, has been denied parole by a Texas judge.
The 64-year-old is currently serving a life sentence for the killing of the Queen of Tejano music. Despite being eligible to petition for early release, the parole board rejected her request, citing the violent nature of her crime and concerns that she remains a “continuing threat” to society.
Saldivar, who was granted the ability to seek parole in 2025, faced intense backlash from Selena’s loyal fanbase, many of whom celebrated the decision to keep her behind bars.
She will next be eligible for parole in 2030, when she is 69 years old.
