Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, has spoken out against Manchester United fans for their insulting chants directed at Phil Foden during the recent 0-0 Premier League match between the two teams.
Guardiola expressed his disapproval of the taunting of Foden, including chants targeting his mother.
In his post-match interview, Guardiola strongly criticized those responsible for the chants, stating that they should be ashamed of their behavior and highlighting their lack of class.
He said, “Lack of class. But it’s not United, it’s the people, you know? We are so exposed on screens in world football – managers, owners, and football players especially.
“Honestly, I don’t understand the mindset of the people who involved Phil’s mum; it is a lack of integrity, class, and they should be ashamed.”
Foden struggled to make an impact during the encounter at Old Trafford and was replaced by Jeremie Doku in the second half.
