INEC has rejected the petition for the recall of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan from the Kogi central senatorial district, stating that it did not meet the necessary requirements for recalling a senator.
The Commission received the petition from constituents of the Senator, calling for her recall process.
Natasha is currently on suspension and the petitioners claimed to have gathered over 250,000 signatures out of approximately 480,000 registered voters in the district.
The petition was titled _Constituents’ Petition for the Recall of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan on Grounds of Loss of Confidence’.
In a brief statement on Thursday, the Commission said, “The petition for the recall of the Senator
representing the Kogi Central Senatorial Distict has not met the requirement of Section 69(a) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended).”
